Money Mindset Shifts To Get Through Uncertain Months
Working harder is not an option for me anymore. I am unsubscribe from the Strong Black Girl thingy.
Last week I wrote a Forbes article that got me thinking about how to navigate this economic uncertainty with ease and continue growing my business. It took some time, but I narrowed down what I believe will be key.
As women of color in business, we hear it all the time: "Get financially literate. Build independence. Create generational wealth."
And yes! that’s part of it. But when uncertainty rises (in markets, in life, in opportunity), it’s not just strategy that carries us through.
It’s a mindset.
And beyond that, it is the financial trauma release that mixes the mindset.
It’s the belief that no matter what shakes around us, we stay rooted in possibility.
Today, I’m sharing three mindset shifts that can help you navigate uncertain months with clarity, confidence, and financial power.
Because when the world feels unstable, your mind has to stay unshakable.
Let’s look into it (And of course, I am bringing you the three open funding opportunities you can apply for today)…
The Perspective:
Mindset is the unseen engine behind what we call resilience.
And right now, too many of us may be stuck reacting to external shifts without strengthening our internal foundations. It is normal but not favorable as a business owner, so here’s what can change the game:
1. Embrace an Open Mind Mindset
It took me some time to understand that I may be called “expert” or “Professional” in something, but at the end of the day, I don’t know 1% of the world's knowledge, so curiosity over control is key. Stay flexible. Learn differently. Ask better questions. When you stay curious, you remain adaptable—and adaptability is a superpower during uncertain seasons.
2. Believe in the Power of Women of Color with Money
You know my core belief (Only that only good things happen when women of color have more money on their hands); that is a period. More wealth in our hands leads to more thriving communities, more leadership, and more healing.
Internalize this belief deeply so that doubt doesn't creep in when times get tough.
3. Insert Yourself Into the Conversation
And I mean every money conversation, business conversation, growth conversation, boundaries conversation… The conversation you want to be in, but haven't stepped into yet. You don’t need to wait for conditions to feel “perfect” to show up. Speak up, share your insight, and claim your space—even now, especially now.
The more you shift your mindset toward expansion, the less external uncertainty has the power to derail you.
I went in-depth about how these three mindset shifts can help you through these times and support your growth in the last podcast episode.
The Practicality:
Here’s how you can put these mindset shifts into action right now:
✨ Ask a new question every day.
Approach uncertainty with curiosity, not fear. Learning is leading.
✨ Celebrate the wins of women of color.
Flood your feed and mind with examples of what’s possible. Normalize success—even when the world feels shaky.
✨ Insert yourself where you belong.
Comment on discussions. Join the room. Your voice is needed, especially during moments of change.
Rewiring Your Ways:
The action step is very simple. Journal on this:
📝 If uncertainty didn’t scare me, how would I move differently this month?
📝 Where am I still waiting for “permission” to lead or create—and how can I change that starting today?
Your ability to shift your mindset will outlast any economic shift.
